Hoe werken wij tijdens de COVID-19-crisis?

Vol ongeloof zagen we hoe de COVID-19-crisis insloeg in het leven van mensen met de daarbij horende gevolgen. De volksgezondheid stond hoog in het vaandel, maar de economie werd een ondergeschoven kindje. We hebben het allemaal vol ongeloof aangezien. Al snel merkten we in ons bedrijf ook de gevolgen. Hoe zijn we hier mee omgegaan en hoe gaat het nu met ons? Hebben we iets geleerd van afgelopen maanden?

In het begin van de crisis hebben veel klanten de samenwerking op pauze gezet. Projecten stopten en onze partners gaven aan ons minder nodig te hebben.

Minder omzet

Om ons heen werden alle zzp’ers er uitgegooid. Dat beïnvloedt ook onze werkzaamheden. Doordat die thuiszittende zzp’ers elke klus aannemen voor een lager uurtarief. Op die manier komt men niet zo snel bij ons. Bedrijven gaan liever voor een zpp’er die voor een heel laag uurtarief aan de slag wil. Een kwestie van veel aanbod, weinig vraag. Aan het begin van de crisis zaten 4 van de 11 medewerkers zonder werk. Voor ons viel 1/3 omzet weg! Gelukkig is het nu aan het kantelen. Bedrijven starten weer met projecten. Dit neemt niet weg dat we afgelopen maanden moesten schakelen. We probeerden de situatie om te denken.

Omdenken: capaciteit anders inzetten

We waren al met een product bezig en de capaciteit van 4 mensen die beschikbaar kwam door de crisis hebben we op het product gezet. Zo konden we extra verbeteringen doorzetten. We hebben de focus gelegd op producten en kant en klare oplossingen en minder op detachering. Hier hadden we al een kentering meegemaakt, maar dat is nu versneld. Door de afgelopen maanden bestaat ons werk nu uit een combinatie van detachering én echte producten creëren. Zoals de Spotler Connector. Deze draait nu al bij een aantal klanten. Daarnaast zijn we veel zichtbaarder geworden op social media met videos’s met tips over onze producten. Wij zijn nu ook begonnen met video’s te maken als handleiding en deze zien er nu een stuk professioneler uit dan aan het begin van de crisis. Onze medewerkers hebben echt een leercurve doorgemaakt en de video´s naar een hoger niveau getild.

Wat hebben we geleerd?

We hebben ervaren dat echte connectie wel heel belangrijk is om betrokken te blijven bij het bedrijf en bij elkaar. Ook om je gelukkig te voelen. Zonder verbinding met de medemens zit je al gauw op jouw eilandje. We merken dat onze medewerkers het ook fijn vinden om collega’s te zien en er even uit te zijn. Je bespreekt dan de dingen die je niet bij een videocall doet, de informele dingen. Het is vaak niet de meeste productieve dag op kantoor met elkaar, maar dat is het thuis juist nu wel. Bij veel grote bedrijven zie je dat iedereen moet thuisblijven. Misschien beseffen we te weinig dat sommige medewerkers ook behoefte hebben aan het babbeltje op het werk. Dit sociale heb je als mens nodig en als je bedenkt 2/3 van de sociale gebieden wegvalt wanneer je niet meer naar je werk en vrienden kunt, dan snap je dat mensen vereenzamen. Wijzelf zijn voor flexibel werken, maar nu komen we wel 1 x per week even naar kantoor om verbonden met elkaar te blijven. Soms is er veel meer mogelijk dan gedacht, ook met 1,5 meter afstand zijn er mogelijkheden!
